James P. Allen
Founder & Principal
James Allen began his career in arboriculture in 1976. Since that time he has worked in all facets of the tree care industry. He received his education in arboriculture through nearly 40 years of experience, attending countless seminars and professional academies. Most notably, he is a graduate of the Consulting Arborist Academy at Arbor Day in Leid, Nebraska, as well as the Tree Biology Academy hosted by the authority of woody plant biology, Dr. Alex Shigo.
During his career he has been honored by his colleagues and peers with numerous awards. Most recently he received the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Gold Leaf Award for outstanding community beautification, as well as the RW Harris Award for Excellence in Education. He is also the former president of the American Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA).
James' experience and love for trees has provided him with unique and rewarding opportunities to give back to his community. In 2002 he had the privilege of designing and teaching the arboriculture class at Cabrillo College, which was created to provide a strong foundation of knowledge and ethics to future arborists. He also established a non-profit organization, the Central Coast Reforestation Foundation, with the purpose of giving at-risk youths an opportunity to learn and take ownership over their environmental responsibility while also making a positive impact on their communities.
